Caldcleaugh Stitchers

In partnership with Caldcleugh Multicultural Center for the Arts, Betsy Renfrew organized refugee and immigrant women to come and practice English while sewing and knitting. Some women learned of the class through Montagnard Dega Association’s ESOL program. Liz Conrad of Glenwood’s Baobob Tree also came in to demonstrate use of the Center's sewing machines.

Scenes from the Women's Stitching and English Conversation Class organized by then Montagnard Dega Association then volunteer Betsy Renfrew (now director of ESOL) and supported by City of Greensboro's Kerri Mubaarak, Director of Caldcleugh Multicultural Arts Center. Weekly meetings were held in two sessions, in Fall 2009 and Spring 2010.
